Following the admission of historical wrongdoing by the Belgian town of Lier, municipalities all around the world are lining up with their own apologies.

According to the UK's i newspaper, the town of Lier is "sorry for burning woman 431 years ago" as a witch.

FNN has learned that other admissions of wrongdoing include:

  • Hong Kong - for looking up that Scotsman's kilt during the handover ceremony in 1999
  • Hawaii - for bludgeoning Captain James Cook to death in 1779
  • London - for burning Guy Fawkes at the stake for trying to blow up the houses of Parliament
  • San Francisco - for incarcerating the birdman of Alcatraz
  • Rouen - for William the Conqueror's "harrying of the North" of England
  • Stockholm - for stealing the recipe for Swedish meatballs from the Turks

Here at FNN we are sure that a flood of admissions of past wrongdoing is in the pipeline.
