Following the successful touchdown of the Perseverance rover on Mars, the rover has sent back the first sound recording from the Martian planet.

After some initial crackling and the sound of a light breeze blowing between the rover's legs, the recording continued:

This is the voice of the Mysterons. The rover is tresspassing on our planet and will be destroyed. In the meantime we have flipped the rover on its back and now it's just lying there like an upturned tortoise. OOH...HAAA...HAAA....HAAA!

A spokesperson for NASA told FNN:

The rover is not programmed to be able to flip itself right-side up so it looks like its going to just lie there waving its legs around for an eternity, powered by the sun. But at least we will get lots more crackling and wind sounds from Mars. Result!

A spokesperson for Elon Musk commented:

[eggplant emoji] Elon told NASA they needed to get permission from the Mysterons before they landed on Mars but they ignored his advice. Now all they have is an upside-down microphone able to record the sound of Martian wind. OOH...HAAA...HAAA....HAAA!
