London's Hackney Wick startup Better Dairy is scientifically engineering vegan cheese as a way to help reduce carbon emissions by removing the need for a cow to be included in the supply chain.
The new cheese is not only vegan but may also include embedded graffiti to reflect its origins in the colorful London district of Hackney.
A spokesperson told FNN:
Embedding graffiti is the latest scientific breakthrough to make cheese reflect the culture and streets of modern London - as you know, a world-renowned home of cheese. Think of it like a cheese tattoo or the 'veins' in blue vinny.
We are in negotiations with artists like Banksy to provide exclusive graffiti designs for our premium brands so we can market them to Hackney gentry at ridiculous artisan 'deli' prices. Who knows? Cheese may become art.
Another feature of our cheeses will be a QR code on the packaging that when snapped will send a waft of the cheese to your mobile phone.
We are also considering following Swedish food company Simple Foods in producing a black, salty-liquorice flavored cheese to accompany their Be My Date product and further reflect the diverse nature of British culture in the 21st century. After all, 'white' cheese is merely another demonstration of the power of the 'man'.
