According to new UK Government guidance about the forthcoming Foreign Influence Registration Scheme (FIRS):

1. The Foreign Influence Registration Scheme (FIRS) is a two-tier scheme which enables transparency of foreign influence in UK politics and provides greater assurance around the activities of the foreign powers that pose the greatest risk to the UK. It is contained within Part 4 of the National Security Act 2023.

2. The scheme is made up of a political influence tier and an enhanced tier. The scheme requires individuals and organisations to register their arrangements with foreign powers and certain foreign power-controlled entities where they are directed to carry out certain activities in the UK. Further detail on the requirements of each tier of the scheme is provided below.

Iran and Russia are on the 'enhanced' tier, whereas, for example, China and the USA are not.

Strange.

Currently, the UK MSM is full of hysterical coverage about the Trump administration's punitive tariffs and undermining of NATO stability for example. Both of which are widely reported to pose great risks to both the UK economy and the UK's national security.

Yet nobody seems to be calling for the USA to be on the FIRS enhanced tier.

How come? Just because it's an ally? Because we love Trump really? Because Americans are not 'foreigners'?

Foreign influence comes from all kinds of activities and sources not just 'disinformation' from 'enemies'. This foreign influence includes the well-funded worldwide activities of unelected NGOs such as USAID, as DOGE has already exposed.

So it looks like all this 'foreign influence' from the USA that allegedly directly threatens the UK economy and security is, in reality, nothing more than just another load of trumped up and anti-Trump MSM nonsense?

And then what about France.

The majority of the tens/hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants coming into the UK every year are coming across the channel from France. A major drain on the UK welfare state and promoting the rise of the right-wing politically.

Yet France is not an 'enhanced' threat either.

So 3 of the greatest 'threats' to the UK right now - US tariffs, US NATO undermining and illegal immigration from France are considered lesser risks to the UK state and to the welfare of its people than Iranian and Russian disinformation campaigns.

Really?

FIRS is clearly not going after 'foreign powers that pose the greatest risk to the UK' so it must be about something else.
