Today, April 2 2025, is Trump's Liberation Day when the USA is set to impose all kinds of tariffs globally to push all kinds of manufacturers to re-shore their businesses in the USA or pay the price.
It's a big gamble.
Sky News reports on potential tariffs for the UK car industry:
The tariff could have a huge impact on the UK's car industry, including on manufacturers such as Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce.
Yeah right.
Most people buying Aston-Martins or Rolls Royces are either immensely rich or drug dealers or both so they don't care about tariffs.
Most people in the USA who buy Jaguars or Range Rovers as second cars for their wives/husbands to drive round the city and clog-up suburban mall parking lots, buy them on a lease.
So what if the lease goes up by $50 a month? That's 10 lattes.
The tariffs are paid by the importer. And of course they will be passed on to the customers.
But Trump knows that anyone bleating that 'Trump has made my Aston-Martin is more expensive' is not going to get much of a hearing in MAGA America.
