The hit 1956 song 'The Party's Over' could be Wild Finn! Sanna Marin's swansong as she conceded defeat to the right-wing National Coalition Party (NCP) in Finland's elections:

The party's over
It's time to call it a day
They've burst your pretty balloon
And taken the moon away
It's time to wind up the masquerade
Just make your mind up the piper must be paid

The party's over
The candles flicker and dim
You danced and dreamed through the night

It seemed to be right just being with him
Now you must wake up, all dreams must end
Take off your makeup, the party's over
It's all over, my friend

It's hardly the kind of clubbing tune Marin favors but like anything, it probably sounds great after imbibing a few bottles of vodka and some salty liquorice.

Anyway, as reported by FNN some time ago, Sanna can look forward to a job in the EU, perhaps as their newly established 'Head of Getting Hammered' with an office located in a Belgian brewery staffed by Gregorian-chant-rapping monks.

FNN wishes her luck. After all, not everyone becomes a prime minister at 37. But she's probably best out of it. God knows what will happen when Finland joins NATO and the US pressures the country to site nuclear weapons on Finnish territory.

Then the party really could be over.
