According to Sky News:
Parents whose children are taught at Eton College have been told fees are "likely" to rise by 20% in January to about £63,000 a year because of VAT changes.
Training the next generation of the UK elite on the paying fields of Eton is going to become even more costly and have the side-effect of making the elite even more elite and students more likely to come from an even wealthier clientele. Sounds like an own goal.
Of course the woke Independent (in an article published on Friday June 12, 2015) claims that Waterloo was not won on the playing fields of Eton but more on the playing fields of some Prussian military academy.
In reality, the French were already a spent force as a result of the Russian defeat of Napoleon's grand army a few years earlier.
Waterloo was the D-Day of its time. Like the Germans in WW2, the French were defeated in the East but the myths persist.
Whatever. Most kids today probably think Waterloo is only a railway station. If they have ever heard of it at all.
