While searching for the Yeti on Everest, a climbing team have made a stunning discovery.

They found a boot with the remains of a sock with the nametape 'Lord Lucan' embroidered on the fabric.

This is similar to that found belonging to the mountaineer A. C. Irvine, who, according to Sky News:

Andrew "Sandy" Irvine was the youngest member of the 1924 Mount Everest expedition and was lost on the upper slopes of the mountain with George Mallory when the two vanished on 8 June that year.

Lord Lucan's sock was probably one worn when he was at Eton or serving with the Coldstream Guards in West Germany.

At last it appears that Lord Lucan's whereabouts have been established and the mystery of his disappearance can be put to rest.
