Elon Musk's Neuralink company may be the first to usher in a new branch of the Internet: The Internet of Stinks.
Neuralink has successfully implanted an image processing chip into the brain a Skunk nicknamed "Pepe Le Pew" so that when the Skunk spots a human the chip can recognise this fact and automatically trigger a response from Pepe's brain to let one off.
The new science of Neural Engineering is pioneering this image-response paradigm that has many potential applications both for animals and humans. For example spotting a red MAGA baseball cap could trigger a similar response to Pepe's enforced fart but in humans.
A spokesperson for Neuralink told FNN:
We are very excited about the many applications of the Internet of Stinks and pleased that our technology will be enabling the humble skunk to respond automatically to threatening images with an appropriate response.
EU spokesperson Ursula von Richthofen commented:
We are investigating the use of neural implants to enable our border force to recognize UK-Leave voters based on training the chip's AI-engine on an image library created from the North of England. Then our customs officers can deny them entry to the EU. Vorsprung durch Teknik!
