According to Sky News, the controversy over the band Kneecap took a turn as a bunch of 'artists' signed a letter claiming that the furore over Kneecap's alleged statement - The only good Tory is a dead Tory. Kill your local MP. - is misplaced.
Apparently this is not hate speech but, according to the artists, a "concerted attempt to censor and ultimately de-platform" the band.
Strange. Does anyone remember a similar letter from outraged artists when a fellow 'artist' called for acid to be thrown in Nigel Farage's face, presumably not only to disfigure him but also as a means to censor and de-platform him as a political candidate.
The news has focused on the distress caused to the family of murdered Tory MP Sir David Amess while also trying to say but it's not just about Tory MPs...whatabout Jo Cox, she was murdered too.
God knows what would have happened if they had called for killing Labour MPs. Starmer would have had a fit.
But calling for the killing of Tories is a bit like calling for the killing of Russians. Who cares? They're all scum right?
These artists do not seem to be displaying much hand-wringing over the assassination of Tory MP Airey Neave in 1979 who was blown to pieces by an IRA car bomb, amidst a general campaign of 'kneecapping' suspected collaborators by the IRA, which presumably has nothing whatever to do with the band's name.
But we forget.
This artistic protest is really about Israel and Gaza and Palestinians not about calling for the murder of our own people because, after all, Tory MPs are not artists.
