Due to their children bingeing on Peppa Pig episodes whilst spending more time at home during the covid pandemic, US parents have noticed that their offspring are picking up British phrases and starting to speak with British accents.
Parents have been puzzled by requests such as to "I need to go to the loo" as they are not familiar with these common British phrases. This will only get worse as Peppa Pig begins to include characters speaking with British regional accents.
So FNN has produced a sample guide to some key British phrases from around the country to help out bemused US parents:
Brit: Bun that US: As if - as in "Clean my room? Bun that!"
Brit: Lush US: Awesome - as in "Mummy, this burger is lush."
Brit: Howay US: Get your ass in gear - as in "Howay daddy, it's time for my breakfast."
Brit: Cob on US: Pissed (angry) - as in "Daddy, I think mummy has a cob on."
Brit: Baps or Stotties US: boobs, rack - as in "Daddy, why are there enormous baps on your magazine cover?"
Brit: Sarnie US: Sandwich - as in "Mummy, I just love marmite sarnies."
Brit: Banjo US: Egg on a roll - as in "Mummy, I fancy a banjo for breakfast".
Brit: Boggin US: Gross - as in "Mummy, this oatmeal is boggin."
