News that wolf-whistling (at women and men presumably) is to be criminalized seems like the thin end of the wedge towards an outright ban of whistling altogether.

A spokesperson for the World Whistling Foundation (WWF) told FNN:

It seems very strange to us that wolf-whistling is to be banned while misogynistic and racist rap lyrics can be heard blaring out on the streets and from cars every day. And people make money from them. What's next? people with ginger hair not being allowed out in public?

I'm a man and I admit I don't like it when gay construction workers whistle at me but I don't see why it should be banned. Yet another erosion of free speech.
