Sky News reports:

Two men who are reportedly Afghan asylum seekers have pleaded not guilty over charges relating to the alleged rape and abduction of a 12-year-old girl in Warwickshire.

The allegations against the men led to a protest outside Nuneaton Town Hall earlier this month. A march was led along the high street, with protesters holding St George's Cross flags and Union flags.

Stand Up to Racism counter-protesters, who held placards and a banner reading "stop the far right", were significantly outnumbered.

The men are obviously innocent until proven guilty but it seems incredible that some people are more concerned with stopping the 'far right' than the alleged rape, three times, of a 12 year old girl.

Is it really any wonder that people are demanding tougher immigration controls?

The Shropshire Star newspaper commented:

In a statement, the Warwickshire force said that once someone is charged with an offence, it follows national guidance, which “does not include sharing ethnicity or immigration status”.

Why not? Phrases such as 'reportedly Afghan asylum seekers' do not help at all - better to be fully transparent.

The UK is really going to the dogs - or at least this is what a taxi driver told FNN on a recent airport trip.

The driver was an Afghan national who arrived in the UK in 2001 and raised his children here but now he is seriously considering emigrating to somewhere with less crime.

That says it all.
