After a Russian skater was stripped of her titles following her testing positive for a banned substance found in fast-food burgers, she has been re-instated after it became clear that she does not identify as Russian.
A spokesperson for the Identity Marketing Board explained:
What everyone did not realise is that the skater in question, although born in Russia, in fact identifies as Ukranian.
So the ban has been dropped.
As you know, today there is no such thing as fixed nationalities and anyone may identify to be from any nation they like and we must respect that choice.
Passports mean nothing in today's nationality-fluid times.
A passport is nothing more than a document that restricts your human right to be whatever nationality you want.
Imagine the stress of growing up as an American when in fact you are a Serbo-Croat trapped in an American nationality. Not funny is it?
So identity trumps nationality, if I may put it that way.
