The online shopping world has been stunned by the news that Amazon will be printing how much the Chinese person got paid for making the product it is selling as an intergal part of the product page pricing information.
A spokesperson explained:
Amazon wants to be as transparent as possible about its pricing, so we have decided to print what the Chinese worker gets paid for making the product our customers are buying.
For example a $1000 smartphone will now show that the Chinese people who made it got paid a total of $4.25 for their efforts.
China has called this a 'hostile and political action' as it reveals just how little Chinese workers are paid to make western goods.
A spokesperson complained:
How would the US like it if we did the same thing?
For example a US product that Chinese consumers buy for $4.25 online but cost $1000 for US workers to make.
