The shrine in rural Wales to 'Dobby', a character from one of the Harry Potter books, has become a dumping ground for old socks.

Although there is unfortunately no transphobic angle to exploit as Dobby was of indeterminate gender, J K Rowling is being blamed for creating a character that was freed via the gift of a sock and thus causing the dumping of socks at the shrine by fans.

A spokesperson for Pembrokeshire Council in Wales told FNN:

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

...which means: Please don't dump your old socks on our lovely beaches.

Apparently local seals, attracted by the smell, have been eating the socks, which then end up bobbing around in the sea creating a hazard to the zodiacs carrying migrants across the channel to the Bibby barges.
