...new tech bringing loved ones back to life through AI

The virtual reality tool called "live forever mode" features digital avatars who can simulate a person's voice, mannerisms and movements after just 30 minutes of the user being observed.

This innovation also means the introduction of a new app subscription called 'pay forever mode'. The subscription is payable by the dead user represented by the AI avatar, ad infinitum.

Critics are sceptical of this new pricing model since it has the possibility of running down an inheritance faster than care home fees.

But humans find it hard to face up to the fact that people are gone, so pay forever mode may well take off as AI avatars become more skilled at cheating death and earning long-term subscription revenues from grief-stricken relatives.
