The UK is "really unprepared" to fight a war and has been living on a "mirage" of military strength that was shocking to discover, interviews with almost every defence secretary since the end of the Cold War have revealed.

This mirage has been documented in lots of books, which apparently no-one reads in the Ministry of Defence, so it's hardly something that needs to be 'revealed' - admitted yes, but that should have been done a long time ago.

We can't even stop the small boats coming across the channel, despite having a navy, so what hope is there to stop an invasion?

But everyone knows that the UK is not threatened by an operation sealion and is not going to be fighting Russians or Chinese on the beaches.

It will all be over way before that happens and it won't much matter what kind of Army, Navy or Air Force a country has as everything will be ashes.

What this is really all about is that the UK can't even guarantee participation in the regime-change wars demanded by its military master - the USA.

It's going to 'let the side down' and that would never do, would it?
