As the cost of dentistry goes up and the availability of dentistry on the NHS goes down (while the need for COVID booster shots remains stable), Brits are taking to DIY dentistry.
Fillings and extractions are among the treatments that more people are undertaking on their own at home, with the help of YouTube videos, ordinary hand tools and the encouragement of online influencers.
A spokesperson for the B&Q DIY chain told FNN:
Electric drills and pairs of pliers are flying off the shelves. We are expecting a run on saws when people progress to doing their own amputations.
A spokesperson for Amazon Alexa commented:
We have noticed a significant uptick in inquiries to Alexa like 'Do I need a hammer to do an implant' , 'Can I build a bridge using Lego?' and 'Is superglue alright for a sticking on a crown?' So we are beefing up our Alexa dentistry skills.
