The UK's DVLA is worried that recent changes to the Highway Code, that governs the use of Britian's roads, will not have been noticed by motorists and could cause problems.

The main change is that cars and trucks are no longer allowed to travel on the road network as it is now only available to cyclists and pedestrians, both of whom are encourged to ride/walk in the centre of the road as there will be no motor traffic clogging things up.

A DVLA spokesperson told FNN:

This change has been a long time coming. For many years we have been convinced that the main problem with roads is that there are cars on them.

This new Highway Code regulation will ensure that pollution is dramatically reduced and that the millions in annual road tax that motorists pay can be diverted to more worthwhile causes. These include smart motorways for use by cycling races and free hydration points every 500 metres or so to ensure that our road users remain fully hydrated.

EU spokesperson Ursula von Richthofen commented:

We are not going as far as the UK but here in Germany we have made it legal for cyclists and pedestrians to enjoy travelling by autobahn alongside Porsches and Ferraris speeding by at well over 100 miles per hour. Vorsprung durch Teknik!
