How and when to see the beaver supermoon - the biggest full moon of the year

The first full moon of November is known as the beaver moon, and this year it is also the second of three consecutive supermoons. Here is all you need to know.

The name is thought to originate from something to do with Native Americans and the time of year when beavers build their dams, but FNN has uncovered a more plausible answer.

A spokesperson for the Bushy Beaver company - a leading manufacturer of merkins - told FNN:

We invented the beaver moon name as the center piece for our campaign to wear more merkins.

Our business has suffered a lot from the trend for both men and women to shave their pubic hair and so each year we use the appearance of the beaver moon to drive more people to try a merkin, just for a change.

Merkins are not just a toupe for the crotch, they now come in many sizes, cuts and colours.
