Trump saying in his state of union address that Iran is a threat to Europe "now" and to America "soon" is new, striking and clearly pretext-setting.
US military force, of a side not seen for nearly a quarter of a century, is surrounding Iran as Trump pressures its leaders to capitulate to his demands.
Without evidence, he claimed in his speech that Iran is an intercontinental threat. Really?
But it's not new, striking or pretext setting considering it has been done so many times before - most recently for the illegal regime change interventions in Libya and Syria and the actual and threatened action against Venezuela and Greenland.
A bit like the MSM claiming that Russia is an intercontinental threat so nothing new there.
The only country that Iran is directly a threat to is Israel so it's pretty obvious what this is all about.
As Sky points out, Trump would like the use of European bases if he goes to war with Iran.
So time to drag out that old threat narrative that has worked before as Sky undoubtedly remembers.
