The vulnerability of the Internet of Things (IoT) was well demonstrated by a recent hack of Roomba robot vacuum cleaners.

Users in the USA reported that some devices emitted racist chants while others began humping the legs of their owners, shouting 'Hubba, Hubba!', instead of doing the cleaning.

A spokesperson explained:

It appears that some malicious teenage hackers have managed to takeover various Roomba devices to send racist messages and engage in random sexual behaviour.

A software fix will be provided to prevent this kind of hacking in future - we hope!

Just think what could happen if your embedded heart monitor is hacked. You could be in for a shock.
