An albino squirrel in Sussex has filed a complaint with the UK's Racial Equality Commission (REC) accusing other squirrels of racism.

A spokesperson for the REC, Ms. Hazel Nut, had this to say about the issue:

This is the first complaint we have had regarding racism in the squirrel population but be assured we will be cracking down on anything that deprives squirrels of their nuts.

This complaint shows that racism is not limited to humans but is also endemic in the animal world.

The albino squirrel told FNN:

I was gathering some nuts when a gang of grey and red squirrels stole my nuts and ran off with them. Just because I'm albino and one in 100,000 squirrels of the squirrel population, I don't see why I should lose my nuts due to my fur color.

National treasure Squirrel Nutkin commented:

It used to be racism between grey and red squirrels that caused a problem but now it's clear that even albino squirrels are subject to racism, which is a development that has gone under the radar for far too long.

David Walliams is rumoured to be considering writing a new bestselling children's book to highlight the issue entitled" "How to be a Honky Squirrel".
