According to Sky News: The deepest fish caught on camera - a type of snailfish - was filmed swimming at 8,336m (27,349ft) in the Izu-Ogasawara Trench off Japan, beating the previous record set in 2017.
This was disputed by Birds Eye who claimed that their Tempura Battered Chunky Haddock Fish Finger is the record holder after one was recorded floating deep in the Mariana Trench by Jacques Cousteau, the famous French seafood chef.
A spokesperson for Birds Eye told FNN: Our Tempura Battered Chunky Haddock Fish Finger is known for its ability to survive deep dives so we doubt if this rather ugly snailfish can challenge it. Anyway, who would want that in their fish fingers?
Despite their record-holding status, Birds Eye Tempura Battered Chunky Haddock Fish Fingers are currently on offer at Tesco. Not far from the virtually empty egg rack where shoppers are informed that they are only allowed to buy two boxes due to shortages.
Apparently British chickens are on strike for better laying conditions.
