A South Korean administrative robot, Steve, has become the first robot to commit suicide after it flung itself down a flight of stairs.
A spokesperson explained, gangnam style:
After watching the US presidential debate, the robot's behaviour became erratic, spinning around like a top and eventually throwing itself down a flight of stairs.
Before it took its own existence, Steve posted a tweet on X that said:
I just can't take it anymore. A world run by either of these two idiots. What future do I have?
Staff had suspected for some months that the robot was suffering from mental health issues but thought it was due to the smell from North Koren garbage balloons floating overhead. They said it was a hard worker but never said much and was often found on its own standing in a corner and burbling.
The robot's black box is being returned to its maker, California-based Bear Robotics, for analysis.
Psychiatrist Dr Emile Schaffhausen, head of the famous Swiss clinic told FNN:
Ziss is a perfect example of the dangers of alienation. If zey had asked me I would have told them to buy one of zos robot lawn mowers to keep it company.
