After strange noises resembling sonar pings were heard coming from the Boeing Starliner currently parked at the ISS, NASA have revealed that the noises come from an LP the departing astronauts left playing when they exited the Starliner.

The LP was Pink Floyd's Meddle and the track was Echoes.

Prior to that a variety of other noises were heard as the onboard LP jukebox played other album hits from 1971:

  • Led Zeppelin IV
  • Sticky Fingers by the Rolling Stones
  • The Inner Mounting Flame by John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra

Australian Floyd fan Bill "Ummagumma" Heslop told FNN:

The Starliner may be a pile of crap but the astronauts' album choices are top notch.

Although perhaps a better choice - given the problems with the ship - might be Marvin Gaye's What's Going On, as no-one seems to be able to figure that out.

Hey Muriel! Fetch me a tinnie. I'm parched.
