The Starmer government is tying itself up in knots over the proposed ban of Israeli Maccabi (all you need to know is in the name) supporters attending a match at Aston Villa.
Sky News reports:
'Additional resources' offered by govt to reverse ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans at Villa game
Supporters of the Israeli side have been told they are not allowed to attend the Europa League match due to safety concerns.
'Additional resources' are normally reserved for policing protests involving 'right-wing thugs' so that tells you something.
But FNN actually agrees with Starmer on this one - after all, Millwall supporters are not banned from matches so why should the Israelis be banned?
Drop the ban, let them kick the shit out of each other and see what the fallout from that will be as the press reports bloodstained Villa and Maccabi supporters. To hell with safeguarding.
More and more this media focus on anti-semitism in the UK looks like the Starmer government desperately trying to avoid the 'anti-semitism' label that was smeared onto Jeremy Corbyn - by Starmer and others - for his support of Palestinians that resulted in his expulsion from the Labour Party.
