South Korea could not progress with the impeachment of their President Yoon Suk Yeol when he failed to turn up for his impeachment hearing as apparently he was on holiday in North Korea.

Mr Yeol was taking advantage of some bargain holiday packages on offer to a new Benidorm-style resort as the DPRK opens up to more tourism to attract foreign currency.

According to the UK's Express newspaper:

The resort, built on a former missile launch site, has been dubbed "North Korea’s Benidorm" after officials were reportedly sent by the nation’s leader Kim Yong Un to Costa Blanca in 2017 on a fact-finding mission.

Known as the Wonsan-Kalma development project, the site was recently inspected by Kim and his daughter, with state TV showing pictures of them strolling across the sand on a nearby beach.

Expect lots of bargain Brits heading for the DPRK in the near future to join Chinese and Russian tourists as the North Koreans add a 'Full English' and 'Fish and Chips' to their hotel menus.
