The Spectator newsletter reports:
At least we know one organisation all this [the Iran war] is good for: the British Exchequer. Today’s Times reports that the government is making an extra £20 million a day from a ‘war windfall’ through taxes linked to energy prices. Analysis for the paper found that, if this goes on for a further 12 months, the Treasury will bring in an extra £8 billion a year. Government sources briefed that this was offset by the rising costs of government borrowing.
So Putin is not the only one rubbing his hands - so is Starmer!
But UK users of domestic oil are not getting a windfall.
Last month oil was around 55p per litre, this month it is around 120p per litre.
All thanks to Trump's Epic Fury!
