'Putting food out for the purpose of attracting wild birds' is now classed as anti-social behaviour, according to the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, and people are being fined for doing so.
The reason being that birds roosting and defecating is a public health nuisance and has the potential to cause disease.
So headsup cat and dog owners...presumably you are next...since cats and dogs crapping everywhere is also public health nuisance and has the potential to cause disease.
If you live next to a neighbour with an immaculate garden you have to put up with mowing and trimming and jolly garden parties all summer but feed a few seagulls and you are anti-social and fined.
Next it will be a hate crime to indulge in 'rewilding' or to keep bees because they buzz and sting people.
Australian bird lover Bill "Alcatraz" Heslop told FNN:
I regularly put a kangaroo carcass out on my property to feed to local vultures. They seem to enjoy it and it doesn't bother anyone.
But then again, my nearest neighbours are 50 miles away across the outback.
Hey Muriel! Fetch me a tinnie. I'm parched.
