Following the use of massed drones by brands in China to co-ordinate spectacular aerial displays promoting their products, it is now clear that this kind of demonstration can also be used for political purposes.
Residents of Washington DC were stunned when hundreds of drones buzzed over the White House before forming themselves into a giant middle finger in the air.
The drones then reformed into the world's biggest QR code.
FNN used a mobile phone to snap the code, which redirected us to an online video of China's pacific fleet at sea with the slogan "F**K You" beneath it.
Retribution was swift as the US announced sanctions on the use of QR codes, which are now banned, as they are clearly being used by foreign powers to "interfere with our airways". Facebook, Google and Twitter will also enforce the ban, redirecting all QR codes from posts, search results and tweets to a picture of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the Oval office above the slogan "God Help America", which was later changed to "God Bless America".
