Random countries, of which the UK is but one of many contenders, are up in arms about US VP J D Vance's (aka the 'knob' according to Western Australian premier Roger Cook) latest words on Fox News:
The president knows, look, if you want real security guarantees, if you want to actually ensure that Vladimir Putin does not invade Ukraine again, the very best security guarantee is to give Americans economic upside in the future of Ukraine.
"That is a way better security guarantee than 20,000 troops from some random country that hasn't fought a war in 30 or 40 years.
Sky News disingenuously asks: What could he have meant?
Well first of all JD could not have meant the UK as it couldn't raise 20,000 combat troops or the buses needed to transport them to the Ukraine.
And even if it could, 20,000 troops to contain Russia is a drop in the ocean - remember Zelensky had asked for 200,000. Hitler tried with a million men in 1941 and he failed, with most of them ending up dead or in a Gulag.
Second JD was referring to 'wars' - not illegal wars - of which there have been a great many in recent years.
He also meant wars against a peer enemy not wars where you are fighting a technologically inferior enemy with the benefit of total air superiority and unlimited military budgets.
And thirdly, the hidden agenda of the USA is to simply make Ukraine another state, like the proposals for Canada and Greenland.
Only this time it looks like Trump's ploy might work and create thousands of jobs for US-led 'reconstruction' efforts i.e. a Starbucks/McDonalds on every street corner and the 'economic upside' of unfettered access to valuable minerals and metals.
Bonus!
