UK Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch seems to have silenced her critics with a stunning new policy promise: Repeal stamp duty!
Stamp duty is a government tax on house purchases paid by the buyer.
Repealing the tax will enable people to buy even more expensive properties to continue to fuel house inflation and leave another hole in the UK's finances to be filled by something else i.e. cuts, taxes or borrowing.
This is being hailed as a 'Reform-killer' but does nothing to deal with any of the UK's core problems: illegal immigration, a failing economy, the NHS on life-support, high energy prices and crumbling infrastructure (other than the new cycle paths popping up everywhere which seem to benefit from an endless budget).
The Conservatives, like Labour and the LibDems, have nothing new to say so it's high time they were all swept away and someone else given a chance to make some changes.
