Wilko, the UK retail chain whose tagline is Where there's a Wilko there's a way, is likely to be going away after it was put into administration.

This is despite a £40 million loan from restructing specialists Hilco, and the failure of new managers under CEO Bill "Sergeant" Bilko to turn the business around.

Wilko originally took on many of the retail locations abandoned by Woolworths when it went bust but appears to have fared no better in tempting shoppers away from Amazon and mall-rivals such as Home Bargains.

'Woolies' used to be the store of choice for high street bargains and the sugar rush gained from a big bag of pick-n-mix sweeties but it too failed as cocaine took over from pick-n-mix.

One suitor is rumoured to be Greggs who are looking for more outlets to serve their popular bacon roll and pink jammie doughnut snacks.

Unfortunately Wilko is not a target of Tik-Tok rioters who may have been able to raise the profile of the brand by looting the stores.
