The G7 has reinforced the special relationship between the USA and the Western Democracies by issuing a statement that confirms a lack of interest in the interests of other significant global players - such as Russia and China - as they are run by autocracies who are clearly not interested in regime change or imposing western democratic ideals on their populations.
In the view of the G7, these autocracies are almost as bad as Donald Trump and his 70 million MAGA white supremacists.
Unfortunately, neither Russia nor China are like Iraq, Afghanistan or Libya and easy targets for 'shock and awe' regime change followed by chaos and destabilization in order to topple and murder dictators who don't toe the line and play their deferential role in geopolitics. The G7 statement makes clear that democracy is all about controlling scarce resources, which is why no-one much cared about Mugabe's brutal dictatorship in Zimbabwe.
As ever, the pragmatic housefrau Mrs Merkel sounded a note of caution by reminding the other leaders that Russia and China are not to be trifled with as the days of sending a gunboat, an aircraft carrier or even the Pacific Fleet to force "uppity nations" into submission were long gone. It's unlikely that even a Blitzkrieg would work since Germany tried that once before with Russia and failed.
And anyway German industry and German consumers will not put up with expensive US fracked gas or gas shortages due to the Ukraine syphoning off supplies mid-pipeline.
So Biden confirmed that America is back. Leading the bi-polar world.
