Now that the BBC has decided to take on the most powerful man in the world, we can expect the conspiracy theories to begin as MI5/6 are brought in for 'damage control'.
Look for new stories that include the phrase 'intelligence sources report', stories that will claim:
- Putin is behind it and the BBC editing room is populated by Russian spies
- Reform is behind it and the BBC editing room is populated by 'far-right thugs'
- Lack of funds is behind it and the BBC needs more investment because its editing software is crap
Then of course there's the 'brazen it out' defence: He said those things right, so what's the big deal?
As Trump rightly says, he has an 'obligation to sue' especially as he, more than anyone, has been up against a lot of fake news in his time.
Basically, the BBC has lost any trust it ever had and has become nothing more than another grubby purveyor of fake news.
Or as Sky News reports it:

With the BBC, he is wielding the legal threat to demand respect from one of the world's most respected news institutions.
Yeah right.
