New online safety rules have come into force in the UK to help reduce the exposure of minors to rampant pornography on the Internet.

Age and identity verification are being replaced by a new technique: Show us your Mum! 

Anyone trying to register for a pornography site will be required to record a video of themselves with their mother.

The mum will be required to read out a standard statement:

I'm [name of registrant]'s mum and I agree to allow them to view your depraved and disgusting content.

Once the video has been verified, the registration will be allowed and both the registrant and their mum will get an email from the site with a registration confirmation message.

It is hoped that Show us your Mum will result in fewer minors trying to register on porn sites.
