Following difficulties recruiting for the Army, Navy and RAF, UK Service Chiefs admit that pressure to recruit more diversely is causing real problems for all the services. After all, the core purpose of the services is to kill our enemies so it's much better if the people doing the killing are not all white and more representative of the military and civilian people they are expected to kill.

An MoD spokesperson gave FNN another perspective on diversity in the Armed Forces:

Given the diversity of UK-society as a whole it is not fair that predominantly young, white men will make up most of the casualities in any future conflicts that our armed forces are engaged in. People are tired of seeing mostly white people as battlefield casualties and expect to see more women, people of colour and trans people - more of a rainbow of casualties if you like.

If it were only old white men that were being killed in battle then naturally many people living in the woke twittersphere would not care.

But when it's mostly young white men getting medals and becoming highly paid 'influencers', then that is clearly unacceptable and alienates other potential recruits from applying to become casualties themselves.
