The Spectator reports:
Meanwhile, the European Commission has moved to end Israel’s preferential trade treatment. Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s top diplomat, unveiled plans to impose €5.8 billion tariffs on Israeli imports over findings of human rights abuses in Gaza.
Kallas said: ‘I want to be very clear. The aim is not to punish Israel. The aim is to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza’.
Well if the aim is not to punish Israel for killing so many civilians then why bother?
Hopefully she will issue a similar statement about 18 rounds of EU sanctions on Russia who have killed far fewer civilians in Ukraine:
The aim is not to punish Russia. The aim is to stop the killing in Ukraine.
Don't hold your breath.
