President Micron (Macron) of France has finally admitted that free speech is bullshit, at least in the EU.

Politico reports Micron as saying:

The French president used a discussion on university partnerships between India and France to flay nontransparent platforms and artificial intelligence systems.

“Some of them claim to be in favor of free speech. We are in favor of free algorithms, totally transparent,” Macron said during his remarks in India. “Free speech is pure bullshit if nobody knows how you are guided through this."

It's a pity that the EU itself is not in favor of free speech (sanctioning Jacques Baud for example), is not transparent and nobody knows who is really behind half of the decisions the EU makes.

The EU holds few referendums and when it does it tries to undermine or deny their results if they don't toe the EU line.

The free speech problem is nothing to do with social media and everything to do with people like Micron and the governments they run.

Algorithms are trained on data - unfortunately a significant proportion of that data is now fake as Micron well knows as he makes it up.
