The Spectator newsletter reports:
Trump even earned himself some rare praise from Tony Blair, who commended the President for recognising the ‘potential’ of Gaza as a ‘new Mediterranean Riviera’. Apparently Gaza has ‘25 miles of Mediterranean coastline, great regional and global markets and a young, dynamic population with a median age of 19’.
A more accurate description would be that Gaza has miles and miles of rubble, is short of food and water to sell in any markets, and a population that is mostly housed in refugee camps.
Beirut used to be called the playground of the Middle East and now the word Beirut is used to describe a particularly problematic housing estate. Gaza is likely to suffer the same fate.
The young, dynamic population has a bright future to look forward to as servers, housekeepers and cleaners in the new strip of hotels and theme parks that the Mediterranean Riviera is likely to attract if Trump's Board of Peace get their way.
But it's better than living in a tent in a crowded refugee camp, right?
Shocking nonsense from one of the architects of the disastrous Iraq war.
