US Supreme Court chief justice, John Roberts, has said that as a result of the latest ruling from the court, President's have "at least presumptive immunity from prosecution" for official acts (but not unofficial ones).
This is a relief for many former US Presidents who have told some big porkies and done some questionable things, especially when using Title 50 of the US Code that makes assassination legal.
Although it's not called that, as we all know that only Vladimir Putin assassinates people and not the CIA (Surprise, Kill, Vanish) or Mossad (Rise Up and Kill First), or Iran, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Ukraine, the UK and many others.
We can expect to see many future Presidential actions to be framed as 'official actions' that claim 'presumptive immunity' so this new ruling could turn out to be a pretty handy tool, or if you prefer, weapon of mass destruction, in the Presidential arsenal going forward.
It's worth remembering that the law supposes that the President acts under the direction of the people via the Constitution.
But legal expert Mr Bumble, a Beadle, told FNN:
If the law supposes that, the law is a ass — a idiot.
