London's Metropolitan Police have announced that they have smashed an influential betting ring ahead of the 2024 election.

A spokesperson explained:

Following complaints from punters about the possibility of a rigged election threatening the UK's bipolar democracy, the Met have smashed a betting ring located at the heart of central London with its headquarters near Westminster.

Yesterday we raided an address at No. 10 Downing Street and arrested a bunch of people who call themselves The Conservative Party for offences relating to the gambling laws.

The ring had been accepting large bets based on the Conservatives losing the election, which everyone knows is a foregone conclusion and therefore this constitues a major fraud. A bit like betting on a dead horse to lose.
