Two International Space Station (ISS) Astronauts will be installing the UK's first technology contribution to the ISS: A pork-pie vending machine.
Supplied by Walls, the new vending machine will be bolted onto the rear of the ISS so it can dispense pork pies to hungry space-walking astronauts at the push of a button.
Astronauts will have a choice of mini or regular pork pies and soon the high-end Melton Mowbray pie will be added.
Elon Musk's SpaceX corporation has won the contract to supply pork pies to the ISS from his rocket base on Cape Wrath, Scotland.
A spokesperson for SpaceX told FNN:
Elon is very proud to be helping to improve the diet of our heroic ISS astronauts who have been deprived of pork pies for so long.
Given that our rockets will be launched from Scotland, we think it's only a matter of time before delicious Scotch pies are added to the vending selection. Yum!
EU spokesperson Ursula von Richthofen commented:
Those disgusting English pork pies are banned in the EU. We are negotiating with the ISS to install our own currywurst dispenser, also on the rear-end of the ISS, to ensure a proper balanced diet for the astronauts.
