The owners of a Perthshire (Scotland) outlet of fast-food chain Greggs, recently found their entire stock of bacon rolls and steak slices prepared for the next day's trading had been stolen by a gang of Glaswegian squirrels from Govan.

After following a trail of food particles, the staff found a massive underground stash of the foodstuffs buried under a clump of heather.

Professor Rab "Nutkin" Nesbitt of Dundee University told FNN:

This is a significant change in the hoarding patterns of hibernating squirrels. It appears that nuts are no loner the food of choice to sustain the squirrels over the winter. Instead choice offerings from Greggs have replaced the nutritious nut and are washed down with the hibernation hydration of choice: Irn-Bru.

The guzzling of Irn-Bru is also turning some grey squirrels a sort of fluorescent orange colour so we now have 3 shades of squirrel: grey, orange and red. The orange variant appears to be more energetic than the other two which is likely to reflect the sugar content of the drink.
