It's become clear that President Zelensky of Ukraine is not much of a diplomat so perhaps this advice from a former Chinese diplomat, Hang Fei, may help:
If a country is small but not humble, if it is weak but not wary of the strong, if it is disrespectful and insults its large neighbors, if it is greedy, arrogant and undiplomatic, it will perish.
Of course Mr Fei is retired now but it's still very relevant advice that Mr Zelensky would do well to take on board.
Sky News reported Mr Zelensky as saying:
Ukraine is "fully committed" to constructive dialogue with US representatives in Saudi Arabia next week, Volodymyr Zelenskyy says.
"Ukraine has been seeking peace from the very first second of this war. Realistic proposals are on the table. The key is to move quickly and effectively," he said.
Addison de Witt would have something to say about this 'seeking peace' claim that simply ignores the fact that Zelensky's original key election promise to end the internal conflict and bring peace to the Donbass never happened and the Istanbul Peace talks in 2022 were also rejected, despite them now being the basis for the current US-Russia negotiations.
