Politics latest: 'This is the end' - Trevor Phillips delivers message to 'friend' Mandelson after Epstein files revelations
Trevor finishes: "The question now is whether the price of his misjudgement is to be paid only by the man himself, or whether those who trusted him and elevated him to the peerage, and to one of the highest diplomatic posts available, should also share in his ignominy."
And that is the question.
How did a top-level vetting procedure manage to allow this man not only to reach close to the top of the political tree but also to make a comeback as the UK's Ambassador to the USA?
It's beyond belief.
The diplomatic vetting procedure needs a thorough overhaul as this is not the only dubious vetting decision made by the UK establishment recently.
The Russians used to have a special KGB division of highly trained women called the 'Legion' to honey-trap foreign diplomats.
The USA didn't need that. It had Epstein.
