Sky News reports:
Why top comedians are being criticised for performing in Saudi Arabia
The Riyadh Comedy Festival has brought together more than 50 top comedic talents from the likes of the UK and US - but their performances haven't passed without criticism.
FNN asked local comedian Shariah Law for his comment:
Look. I never do jokes about dismemberment, stoning or 9/11 so it's not a problem for me. And let's face it, the money is great.
Scottish comedian Rab C Nesbitt told FNN:
They'll no get me there. I canna wear ma kilt and they don't serve Tennants lager. Anyone for a bevy?
FNN wishes that Bernard Manning (RIP) was still alive and had been invited to perform.
He would probably have gone down well with the Saudis as he specialised in Jewish jokes, being of Jewish ancestry himself, for example:
My grandfather was known as an unorthodox Jew - he was a Nazi.
