£1.2 million of cocaine was found hidden in a wheelchair at Milan airport.

Italian detective Giovanni "Rigatoni" Viareggio was convinced the wheelchair was 'dirty' and he was proven right after the wheelchair was stripped down and the drugs were found in the rocker panels.

Giovanni told FNN:

We became suspicious after the wheelchair occupant spotted one of our sniffer dogs approaching and suddenly leapt from the chair and ran off doing cartwheels while prising an oyster from its shell with a pocket knife.

I said to my wheelchair mechanic who was with me, Milano Marv: Fangool You! Check the rocker panels like on The French Connection.

Then when we removed them, there were the drugs wrapped in sheets of lasagne that we ate later with some fava beans and a nice bottle of Chianti.

The wheelchair owner, a Frenchman from Marseille, evaded capture and was never seen again.
